A Guide for the Inside: Wellness & Wellbeing

As of late, I've had a few health complications, which, once they're over, I am hoping to discuss properly in a blog post (in the hopes of helping others going through similar things). It's left me bed-ridden and exhausted on a number of occasions and has had a very detrimental impact on my life. But, every cloud has a silver lining and my health has lead me down the path of self-care and hollistic therapy. In this post, I'm going to be discussing some of my recent finds to aid my symptoms, whilst supporting some of my favourite local businesses!

Firstly, I'd like to say a HUGE thank you to Marian Timms, who I mentioned in my last blog post! I got talking to her after testing out a couple of her products at the Allergy & Free From Show a couple of weeks ago. She was kind enough to send me a few things from her shop and I'm going to talk about them in this post!

Disclaimer: Some of the items mentioned in this review were gifted to me. However, all opinions are completely honest. I will never make untrue claims, or advertise for products I do not fully believe in.

Broadstairs Herbal Apothecary

I was initially skeptical about herbal medication, or any holistic treatments to be frank. I've always thought, science knows best, there's tonnes of research - how could anything else be better? WELL. This was until I started seeing Patina, a herbalist from Broadstairs Herbal Apothecary. In our first consultation, she spent an hour and a half detailing every symptom I was experiencing and performing Iridology on me. Iridology is the process of reading the markings on a person's eyes to discover any bodily inflammation or trauma. It showed her not only exactly where my discomfort was, but also the lines from the intense migraines I had been experiencing and the age at which I had started my period! On the subject, since I started my periods at the age of 14, they have been incredibly lengthy and irregular (I'm talking 13 days, every two weeks).. No medicine I have tried, be it pills, patches or contraceptives, have done anything to help. BUT the first period I had after trying her 'tincture' (herbal medication) was 7 days in length. Since starting with Patina, my cycle is like clockwork - one, regular-length period, every 30 days. Thank you, Patina! An initial consultation is only £45 and she is happy to speak with you over the phone any time after that! I cannot recommend her enough!

Marian Timms - Nikken

As I said, Marian has sent me some products to try out - some of which I had seen at the fair, but one I had not! I have only been using the products for a couple of days, but I have noticed a big difference! Let me take you through what I received:

✾ PiMag Water Bottle

This biodegradable water bottle has a built-in filter, so you can drink pure water wherever you go. The website says it "adds natural minerals and adjusts pH value to 8.5 - 9.5 range (alkaline) to help counterbalance a largely acidic modern environment". I was very intrigued as to how changing the quality of my water could affect my life and I was pleasantly surprised! Since starting to use this water bottle just a few days ago, I have felt more energised than usual and when I drink the filtered water, it genuinely refreshes me more. I had no idea that my tap water was contributing negatively to my health and now I have tried this product I am not going back!

The filter lasts for 250 uses, which for a 621ml bottle (based on refilling the bottle three times per day) works out as roughly 2-3 months. Then it does have to be replaced, however Marian has got a sale on at the moment, where you can buy the bottle and a spare filter for cheaper than the original bottle by itself (crazy, right?!) It is an investment at £36, but for cleaner water, on-the-go, I think it's a no-brainer.

✾ Powerband Necklace

All aboard, skeptics! I, too, was skeptical of a necklace that promises to provide 'magnetic therapy' for balancing the body and reducing anxiety. I had done no prior research of magnetic therapy, Marian had only told me it could be used for anxiety, but the second I put it on, I felt balanced. It's the only word I can use to describe it. Perhaps it is a placebo, but I don't doubt the many civilisations before us, who used magnets to draw impurities out of the body. For a new kind of holistic treatment, I would recommend giving magnet therapy a go. Use it for treating mental health conditions, oxygen flow and imbalances in the body!

Note: If you have a pacemaker, or any other kind of electronic device in your body, this is NOT suitable for you, due to the magnets which could cause disruption.

✾ Kenko mStrides

Along the same lines, Marian also sells magnetic therapy insoles! They share the same benefits as above, with the added bonus of hitting the reflexology points in the feet. See my last blog post for a full review of the product demonstration I had done at the Allergy & Free From Show, which showed me the power of these insoles! These can be used alone, for a few minutes of balance and reflexology in the morning, or evening. Or, they can be cut to your shoe size and placed inside your shoes, for magnetic therapy wherever you go! This is such a creative product and, like both the water bottle and the necklace, they are portable, which in this busy age means you can pop them on and go! Love them - thank you, Marian!

Note: Again, this is magnetic therapy, so not suitable if you have an electronic device in your body!

MONQ Personal Essential Oil Diffusers

I know, I know, I have mentioned MONQ a couple of times, both on my blog and across my social media. But, I really am obsessed with these products! I now own one in almost every blend and am looking to complete my set with 'Sleepy'. Unfortunately, I can't try the 'Zen' blend, as I am allergic to one of the ingredients - tea tree oil. You'll just have to try that one for me (and you can do so at 10% off, thanks to my discount link, above!)

Disclaimer: Yep, an affiliate link. You don't get charged AT ALL to use it - in fact, you get yourself a cute lil' discount and my eternal appreciation, as you'll be helping me to make a small amount of money! 🖤

Let me tell you a little more about them. Some quick-fire FAQs:

✾ Is MONQ a vape/e-cigarette?

Absolutely not, I am a singing teacher, so I would never promote a vape/e-cigarette, or any form of smoking for that matter!

✾ So, what is it then?

According to MONQ's own website, they are "all-natural essential oil blends in classic aromatherapy combinations." They are "available in 14 different blends, all of which are free of nicotine and tobacco, GMOs, and artificial ingredients, and are 100% organic and vegan."

✾ How do you use it?

Breathe it in through your mouth and out through your nose. This is how the benefits of aromatherapy are best delivered to your body! "Plant fragrances pass through your olfactory system inspiring relaxation or other effects, depending on the blend." (MONQ official website)

There are lots more FAQs on their website, linked in the title, where you can also check out my favourite blend, Mountain - containing juniper leaf, peppermint and scotch pine, mmmmm!

That's all from me today! What do you use to promote wellness and wellbeing? Have you tried any holistic therapies? Let me know in the comments below, or on my social media, linked at the top of the page! And please give me a shout if any of these products work for you - I'd love to know!
